Cultivate takes advantage of two spaces that were originally designed by IM Pei to be planters overlooking the main entrance are for the museum. The spaces, along the walkways between the upper galleries, have been vacant for many years after the museum considered the wisdom of maintaining growing plants (water, soil, organic matter, insects, etc.) within a climate controlled art museum. I opted to populate the spaces with plants of a very non-organic nature to fulfill the original intention of the architect.
