Utilizing the kiln to melt a variety of scavenged and broken glass, the work creates a grid of glistening, arctic-like colored forms covering an encasement of road maps from the 1950s and 60s. Invoking the illusion of melting ice, Crevasse portends a dramatically altered landscape. Build inspiration: A skyline, a structure, a maze, an interconnected network – unplanned growth. Lacking forethought. Caving to the human urges to grow, to expand, and to occupy.
