Marionation uses the concept of mapping as a metaphor for systematic control and identity. Maps being abstractions and symbols of governmental influence and power. Marionation questions who is actually pulling the strings in Washington and what shadows Washington’s Democracy casts on foreign lands.

Maps are typically viewed as being structured, absolute, and defined symbols of governmental influence and power. In contrast the maps of Intersection are limp structures that show the flexibility and vulnerability of defined borders.

Intersection seduces the viewer with the beauty of overlapping organic wool webs then repels the same viewer with details of terrorism.

Note: each map lifts out of the rack and can be view individually and re-ordered by the viewer.
